Battery dummy compatibility list

There are many battery dummies on the market, but not all of them work really well. With cheap China imports, the voltage from the plug is often connected directly to the terminals of the battery. These don’t work with all cameras and they usually can’t show the battery charge. Better ones use a chip that simulates the battery and are often indicated as “Fully decoded”.

A comparison of the connections on the battery with those on the dummy is already an indication of whether the dummy is fully decoded or not. Missing or additional connections on the dummy mean without chip!

At Nikon, the dummies unfortunately all look the same. From the outside you can’t see if they have a chip built in (coded) or not. Therefore, when buying, make sure that the description says Fully Coded or similar.

Problematic are dummies which are equipped with a USB connector and generate 8-9V from the 5V of a USB port. These have partly moved components (capacitor) into the dummy. If you connect a QCCP and a PB to these dummies, it can happen with some powerbanks that they switch off again after switching on the voltage to the dummy because of overcurrent.

To find out which battery dummy you need, compare the type on the original battery with the list and select the appropriate dummy.

 The dummies listed in the compatibility list were tested by me and other users with the QCCP. But this does not mean that only these will work.

 At Lanparte there is a suitable battery dummy for almost all current cameras, which are also equipped with a beech 5.5×2.1mm and thus fit without additional adapter to the QCCP / QCCP stick.
